¿Quién soy?

You can easily recognize me by my striking beak, the black plumage on my body, my white chest, and the intense blue color of the feathers around my eyes. Males of my species are usually slightly larger than females, which can lay up to 3 eggs per clutch. We like to live in couples or groups of up to 20 individuals.

¿De qué me alimento?

My favorite foods are fruits, nectars, caterpillars, insects, lizards, and small birds and their eggs.

¿Dónde vivo?

I like to live in secondary forests near water bodies such as lagoons and rivers. You can find me in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia.

Shared responsibility?

I usually build my nests in natural cavities at different heights and depths; I hide them with branches and leaves. Both parents incubate the eggs. When the chicks hatch, breeding is also shared.
