¿Quién soy?
I am a shy big mammal. I have a stiff crest that runs from my shoulders to my forehead. I have large teeth that help me crush plants and seeds and a prehensile trunk to reach the highest leaves and fruits. I like to walk at night, and although I don't have good vision, my sense of smell is accurate.
¿De qué me alimento?
Us tapirs usually feed at night. We prefer eating fruits and leaves, also feed on grains, seeds, and nuts.
¿Dónde vivo?
You can find us from Venezuela to Argentina, especially in Brazil. Our preferred habitat is the tropical montane forest and swamps. We prefer to live near water sources, especially rivers.

Anti-predator camouflage?
Our babies are born with white spots and stripes to camouflage themselves from predators, which darken as they enter maturity.
