¿Quién soy?
I am a bird with bright blue-black plumage, with a white chest and white tail tip. My legs and beak are red, and I have a well-developed comb. I like to build my nests in tall trees and make them with stems, lianas, branches, and leaves. I usually look for my food in couples or small groups. I spend most of my time on the ground, following groups of monkeys and taking advantage of the fruits they drop.
¿De qué me alimento?
I eat mainly fruits, seeds, stamens, and leaves. I can supplement my diet with insects and amphibian eggs.
¿Dónde vivo?
I usually live in coastal areas and the lower parts of the Andes Mountains. I prefer open forests and steppes. You can find me from Ecuador to Argentina.
Para que me conozcas mejor
A skilled bird of prey.
I am a lonely hunter, and I usually catch my prey in open fields, where I fly in circles to stooping (dive) towards my prey.
