¿Quién soy?
You can easily recognize us by our shiny black plumage. Juveniles have white plumage until six months old, then the characteristic black feathers emerge. We are social birds; after the breeding season, we usually get together in large groups of up to 70,000 individuals. We are not migratory birds, but we can travel hundreds of kilometers to look for food.
¿De qué me alimento?
We are exclusively herbivorous birds; our diet is based mainly on aquatic and swamp plants.
¿Dónde vivo?
We like to live in large lakes, but we have been observed occasionally on the seashores. We are a native Australian species.

Black swans?
We were discovered in the early 18th century when English settlers took us with them. It was a great shock because people only knew white swans at the time. Nowadays, we are a very famous species in Europe, kept as ornamental birds in various gardens and ponds.
