¿Quién soy?

The males of my species are usually slightly larger than the females. Our plumage is white, and we differ from the North American swans by the orange bump we have at the base of the bill. Although we are not migratory birds, we can travel hundreds of kilometers to look for food.

¿De qué me alimento?

Our diet is based mainly on aquatic plants. Occasionally, we can feed on insects, small fish, and amphibians.

¿Dónde vivo?

We like to live in large lakes, but we have been observed occasionally on the seashores. We are native Australians. We like to live in quiet bays, open swamps, lakes, and ponds. You can find us nesting in north-central Europe and north-central Asia. We have been introduced successfully in North America.

Mates for a lifetime?

Contrary to popular belief, not all white swans mate for life. In fact, we can have up to 4 partners, or "divorce" when the couple fails to reproduce successfully
