I am a large nocturnal bird. I have bright yellow eyes, and my head feathers form false "ears", distinctive of my species. The rest of my plumage is grayish brown, dark mottled, and white. My vocalizations are deep and resonant. I usually nest high in trees, dead logs, small caves, or among rocks.

I like to hunt small mammals, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and birds.

You can find me in a wide variety of habitats, including dense forests, grasslands, and deserts. I live from the United States to Argentina.
