¿Quién soy?

My plumage is generally white with pink shades. My large, curved beak has filtering structures that help me feed. I am a monogamous species, and I live in large groups. I spend more than 30% of my day grooming my beautiful feathers, which is very important to keep them waterproof and fly smoothly.

¿De qué me alimento?

I usually feed on small invertebrates and aquatic plants. My specialized beak serves as a filter trap that, when filled with water, retains the food in its structures. My conical nests are a mound of mud about 12 inches high.

¿Dónde vivo?

I live in areas of shallow sweet or salty waters. I live from the coast up to lands more than 4000 meters above sea level. You can find me in Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, and Paraguay.

How many vertebrae does my neck have?

I have an extremely long neck due to the size and location of my 19 vertebrae, which give me great flexibility.
