¿Quién soy?
My huge shell is black; in the front, it is slightly bent which allows me to raise my neck to feed on fruits and leaves in the upper parts of the trees and bushes. During rainy seasons I like to spend time in the mud or semi-submerged in lagoons, which helps me control my temperature and gives protection against parasites.
¿De qué me alimento?
I am a herbivorous turtle; I eat mainly herbs, leaves, and fruits especially cacti.
¿Dónde vivo?
I live in the arid lava lands of the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador.

In danger of extinction!
Before the massive arrival of visitors to our island, we used to be very abundant. However, our population was decreasing fast because sailors took us to their boats as a source of fresh meat, plus the arrival of exotic species such as dogs, cats, and goats has damaged our fragile ecosystem.
