¿Quién soy?
I am the only crocodile in Peru. My head is narrow, and my mouth is long. The males of my species are usually slightly larger than the females. My scales are olive-brown. Females can build nests 1.5 m depth. There are 30 to 60 eggs per nest covered with litter and branches. Once the hatchlings leave the nest, they quickly disperse and are left on their own. I am a lonely creature, and I can live until 70 years..
¿De qué me alimento?
I am an opportunistic predator; I usually feed on fish, turtles, crustaceans, iguanas, small alligators, birds, and mammals.
¿Dónde vivo?
I live in the mouths of large rivers in coastal areas, mangroves, and lagoons. You can find me from the United States to the Tumbes river in Peru.
