¿Quién soy?

My scales are grayish-brown, and I have brown eyes. I am a robust, strong crocodile, and I tend to raise my head when I am on alert. I am an opportunistic predator, and I usually hunt at night. During the day, I hide in burrows or dense undergrowth cavities. I can live to be 40 years old in captivity.

I eat a carnivorous diet, including small reptiles, birds, and mammals..

¿Dónde vivo?

I live in the humid tropical and Amazonian forests, always close to water bodies. You can find me from French Guiana to Peru and Bolivia.

How do we hunt? To capture our prey we use the ambush strategy, diving into the water and keeping only the eyes, ears, and the end of the nose out of the water while waiting for a distracted mammal, fish, or bird.
