¿Quién soy?

I am a medium-sized non-poisonous snake. The color of the back of my body varies between shades of brown, red, and yellow. My head is darker than the rest of my body. I like to live alone, and my activity is nocturnal and crepuscular. I have thermo-receiving nose pit organs that allow me to detect my prey by the warmth they emit. I like to rest in trees, tree hollows, or buried in leaves litter.

¿De qué me alimento?

I am a carnivorous species; my diet includes small mammals, birds, lizards, and amphibians.

¿Dónde vivo?

I have terrestrial and semi-arboreal habits. I live mainly in forests or areas with abundant vegetation. My species is distributed from Venezuela to Peru and Bolivia.

Para que me conozcas mejor

Bright colored scales. Did you know that my body under sunlight presents iridescent blue tones, which are produced because my scales have microscopic ripples, which generate multiple light reflections that are captured by the human eye as iridescent colors.
